Begbie View Elementary
All About BVE K-5
Getting children outside after school, no matter the weather!
Our after school program offers nature connection outdoors year round on and around each of our school locations, as well as the greenbelt, and urban connections in downtown Revelstoke! The curriculum is based on experiential learning, that lets children learn about the environment around them, the natural world, and themselves. Our staff are passionate mentors, that will pick your child up after school and bring them to our program location, provide snacks, ignite their curiosity and play outdoors with them.
Our daily operation includes:
- Collection of your child(ren) from school
- A nutritious snack
- Outdoor education based learning led by trained and certified staff
- 1:12 ratio facilitator to student
- Age appropriate learning
- A child care licensed, reliable after school program
Drop off and Pick up
No drop-off needed as Revelstoke After School Society Staff will be responsible for the pick up of children at a consistent designated meeting spot.
Parents are responsible for checking in with staff upon picking up their child(ren). As our program is never at one set location it is the responsibility of the parent to check for notifications of location change. You are encouraged to connect with your child(ren)’s program phone if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding program and locations.
Please note that the program will be running Monday to Friday, for a duration of 44 weeks in total. Following the School District #19 school calendar, after school care will not run on statutory holidays or school closure days such as winter break, spring break, and summer break. We do however offer care on early dismissal days.
Daily Schedule
- 2:15pm – A staff member will arrive at each school to greet and gather students
- 2:30pm – School is dismissed, and students walk to the designated pick up spot
- 3:00pm – All participants should be in our care and will be fed snack
- 3:15pm – Begin programming
- 4-5:30pm – Parents can pick up their child(ren) at the designated pick up spot
- 6:00pm – Staff leave after clean up
Our registration form is available to be filled out at all times of the year, however, your spot is not guaranteed until it has been reviewed to ensure appropriate space is available.
Please note that submitting this registration form DOES NOT guarantee a space for your child. Upon completion of the registration form, your child will automatically be placed on the wait list. If a spot becomes available, we will contact you with the e-mail that you have provided. Spots will be offered in the order that registrations are received.
Fall registration for new enrollments opens annually on April 1st.
Priority is given to all families who have been registered with us the previous year. In March all families who are currently enrolled are responsible for completing a new form for the following school year. If you have missed the window, please send us an email (info@revyafterschool.ca)
Location
Our program is outside as much as possible: rain, shine, or snow! Our BVE K-5 program typically spends most of their time around Begbie View Elementary, Queen Elizabeth Park, and down by the baseball fields/ Greenbelt at Centennial Park.
In case of inclement weather, cold children, or safety concerns, we do have separate indoor locations for our students. Notifications will be sent to communicate location changes.
We have partnered with various local businesses to host some fun special adventures in our beautiful neighbourhood. Field trips and special adventures will be communicated with advance notice.
Transportation
Occasionally we will use Revelstoke Public Transit to reach further locations. Our main method of transportation is on foot.
