Columbia Park Elementary K-5

All About CPE K-5

Getting children outside after school, no matter the weather!

Our after school program offers nature connection outdoors on and around the greenbelt and urban connection downtown Revelstoke, offered in all seasons! The curriculum is based on experiential learning, that lets children learn about the environment around them, the natural world, and themselves. Our staff are passionate mentors, that will pick your child up after school and bring them to our program location, provide snacks, ignite their curiosity, and play outdoors with them.

Please note that the program will be running Monday to Friday, for a duration of 44 weeks in total. Following the School District #19 school calendar, it will not run on statutory holidays or school closure days, such as winter break, spring break, or summer break. We do however operate on pro-d days as well as pick up on early dismissals.

Cost

$25 a day includes:

  • Transportation of your child from school to our venues
  • A nutritious snack and beverage
  • Outdoor education based learning
  • 1:6 ratio facilitator to student
  • Age appropriate learning
  • A child care licensed, reliable after school program

Drop off and Pick Up

No drop-off needed as Revelstoke After School Society Staff will be responsible for the pick up of children at a consistent designated meeting spot outside Columbia Park Elementary School.

Parents are responsible for picking up their children at or before 5:30pm. As our program is never at one set location, it is the responsibility of the parent to text the program phone to see where pick up is.

Program Schedule

  • 2:28pm – A staff member will arrive at school
  • 2:30pm – School is dismissed, and students walk to the designated pick up spot to meet our staff
  • 3:00pm – All participating students are given a snack
  • 3:15pm – Begin programming
  • 5:30pm or earlier – Parents pick up their children

Location

Our program is meant to be outside as much as possible: rain, shine, or snow! Our CPE K-5 program typically spends most of their time around Columbia Park Elementary School or along the River.

In case of inclement weather, cold children, or safety concerns, we do have a separate indoor centre for our students. Text messages to all parents will be our way of notifying our families of any last minute location changes due to weather.

We have partnered with various local businesses to host some fun special adventures in our beautiful neighbourhood, but but rest assured, we will provide parents with plenty of notice about such upcoming events.

Transportation

Children will meet at a designated spot outside of CPE and one of our team members will greet your child. For students in Kindergarten, a staff member will meet your child’s teacher for transfer of care from school to RASS. Once everyone has arrived, staff will walk with your child to our outdoor programming areas. IF the weather pushes us in, we will walk to our indoor location.
