It’s almost summer, and I’m sure your kiddos are looking forward to summer camp this year. We are so excited to be providing our community with some super fun, adventure filled, and memorable summer activities. To help ensure your child has a great time, we have put together a list of essentials for everyone at summer camp!
Please have the following items ready for their first day of camp:
Backpack Essentials
- Comfortable Backpack
First and foremost, each child will need a comfortable backpack. This will be used every day to ensure your child has all the necessities. Here’s what to pack:
Change of clothes
- Extra teeshirt: Kids can be quite messy so having an extra shirt will keep your child fresh.
- Extra pants/shorts: Be prepared for any unexpected weather changes
- Extra socks and underwear
Should your child get wet, having these extra clothes will keep them warm for the remainder of the day.
- Waterbottle: Having a refillable water bottle will ensure your child has water all throughout the day. Staying hydrated is super important, especially when spending the day outside in the sun.
- Sunscreen: Sunburns are not fun for anyone. Please provide your child with some sunscreen to protect their skin. This will be applied regularly.
- Bugspray (optional): Just like sunburns, bug bites are no fun. Pack some bug repellant to ensure your child comes home with minimal bug bites
- Sunglasses: try to provide you child with some sunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun’s harmful rays
- Light jacket or hoodie: this will be super important in the mornings as they are often much cooler than the rest of the day
- Waterproof jacket and pants: We are a program that is outdoor based, so, we will be outside when it is rainy. Waterproof jacket and pants are essential for any rainy days we may encounter.
Meal times
- Packed lunch: Please provide your child with a packed lunch for the day. We will often be having lunch in the park(s) so remember to pack things that do not need to be heated.
- Nut free snacks x2: A snack that fits in a pocket will be really helpful for our daily walking adventures. To protect all children and staff from allergies, please refrain from bringing any snacks with nuts.
Additional Tips
- Ziplock Bags: Use Ziplock Bags to organize all your clothing items. This will keep them dry and separate from other items. As a bonus, if your child comes home with wet clothing, our staff will have a place to put them where they won’t get other items wet.
- Label Everything: Make sure to label all belongings with your child’s name to prevent any mix-ups or lost items.
Feel free to include any other materials your children will need. Any medication MUST be given to staff at drop off and a Medication Authorization will need to be filled out.
We hope this list alleviates any stress on you and your family when it comes to summer camp. This list will help ensure your child is well-prepared and comfortable while at RASS-cals Summer Camp.
